Replacing the bulbs
When a customer wants to replace an
incandescent bulb with an eco friendly
Ecopal bulb, look for one with wattage
about one quarter of the bulb being
replaced. For example, one of our bulbs
in the 15-watt range replaces around
a 60-watt incandescent, using only a
quarter of the power.
Electricity consumption by domestic lights and appliances has nearly doubled since 1970 and it is set to increase by 12 per cent by 2010, so let’s all band together to cut our energy wastage.
Recycle your old bulbs
When your Ecopal bulb burns out,
in the long and distant future, recycle it. This
prevents the tiny bit of mercury inside
from causing any harm to the planet.
But don’t worry, using these bulbs helps
reduce the mercury being released into
the air from coal-burning power plants,
so you’re still ahead of the curve.
A 100W traditional light bulb left on for just 30 minutes creates enough CO2 to fill a party balloon, but not one you would want at your birthday!
Optimise bulb life
To keep an Ecopal bulb healthy, install
it where it will stay on for at least 15
minutes at a time.
Take two guesses on how much CO2 you save when you replace a 50
Watt incandescent bulb with a 2 Watt
Superbright - 0.096 Tonnes! That's some heavy duty saving for the environment!
